OCR: The lonic Column was slender, graceful, and feminine. The tapering shaft of the pillar was a metaphor for the female DORIC IONIC CORINTHIAN figure. The Doric Column was thick, muscular, swelling to the base (the Greeks called this "entasis"), and represented the male body.
